What is parkour?

Parkour is an exciting and challenging form of exercise that involves moving quickly and efficiently through an environment using jumping, climbing and acrobatic movements. It is a discipline that requires physical strength, agility and mental focus. The athletes, known as traceurs, constantly seek to improve their ability to navigate through urban environments by overcoming obstacles such as walls, railings and concrete blocks with grace and precision.

Mikkel Rugaard is a creative professional with a wide range of experience in design and art. His work spans multiple disciplines, including architecture, urban spaces and installations. Together with Mikkel Rugaard, we have collaborated to create safe and inspiring training areas for parkour enthusiasts. NOORD has been responsible for the installation of fall surfaces at parkour facilities in both Roskilde and Maribo, projects designed by Mikkel Rugaard. This collaboration has resulted in unique training environments that are both challenging and safe for the athletes.

Integrating the UN Sustainable Development Goals: Solna UN17 Park

The plan for Solna UN17 Park is to integrate the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals into one park. Each goal is represented through different installations and activities to raise awareness of sustainability and encourage visitors to engage in environmentally friendly initiatives. The park is designed to be an inspiring and educational place that promotes sustainability in society. The concept includes various elements and installations that will support and inform about all 17 global goals in different ways. The park is a destination for both short and long visits, where you can play, exercise, challenge your colleagues to a paddle match, have lunch or hold outdoor meetings. Here are two UN Sustainable Development Goals that focus on health and sustainability:

Goal 3 – Health and Well-being – Installation: Outdoor Gym

This area encourages taking care of health by participating in activities that promote well-being. Exercise has many positive effects on health, such as increased alertness, strength and improved memory, as well as better sleep. The outdoor gym offers opportunities to exercise and stay healthy.

Goal 7 – Sustainable Energy – Installation: Solar bike rack

Bicycles can be parked under solar panels that provide clean energy to the area. Electric bikes can also be charged here.

Several countries have already taken the initiative to develop such parks and the concept is still being developed in many places. In countries such as Sweden, Denmark, and several other European nations, parks or projects that integrate the SDGs have already been established. Other countries around the world are exploring and implementing similar initiatives to create awareness and engagement around sustainable development. This global momentum reflects a growing recognition of the need for sustainable solutions and educational initiatives to ensure a better future for generations to come.

Colleges and universities demand outdoor fitness equipment

At colleges and universities in Denmark as well as in the rest of the world, we also see an increasing demand for areas with outdoor fitness equipment. At Roskilde Gymnasium in Denmark, the school has chosen to create an area with outdoor fitness equipment near the school’s hall and playing fields, so that during the summer months it is possible to incorporate the equipment into the sports lessons.

The area is beautifully situated between pines and bushes, which frame the area in the finest way. Underneath the equipment, the school has chosen a rubber surface with its own logo as fall protection. The school’s area with outdoor fitness equipment consists of push-up bars, parallel bars, jump boxes in different heights and bars for triceps extensions.

Effective and free calisthenics workout

At NOORD, we want to design outdoor training areas that provide the framework for an optimal workout. This can be done by facilitating a free calisthenics workout, where you can use equipment such as our Spirer Battle Rope or Monkey Bar to have a fun and different workout. Inside our products you will also find inspiration for what exercises you can do on our equipment.

Calisthenics is a form of exercise where you use gravity and your own body weight to challenge yourself. You can therefore easily adjust the exercises to suit your fitness level. If you’re consistent with your workouts, you’ll notice how you can do more and more repetitions or increase the difficulty of the exercises.

We have collaborated with ZYSCOVICH, BIG, SINAI, OPLAND, schønherr and many others to develop our equipment, designs and much more.

Free calisthenics workout plan

We’ve created a free calisthenics workout plan where you can get inspiration for what exercises you can do. The plan takes place over 4 weeks where you do these workouts three times a week.

Workout 1:

10 leg raises
10 sit-ups
30 second plank
5 burpees

Workout 2:

10 push-ups
10 pull-ups
10 push-ups
10 dips

Workout 3:

15 squats
15 walking lunges
45 seconds plank

You can adjust how many repetitions you do and gradually increase the number week by week.

Outdoor crossfit equipment is functional and elegantly designed equipment that is made to blend naturally into its surroundings. NOORD gym equipment is suitable for multiple sports disciplines including the popular and intense workout called Crossfit.

Crossfit is a challenging and powerful workout that has gained huge popularity over the years. You can do Crossfit almost anywhere and with very little equipment and it doesn’t have to take longer than 20 minutes to complete the Workout of the Day (WOD).

Our equipment is made from EPDM rubber, which is resistant to changing temperatures and harsh weather conditions, and from rust protected steel with a powder varnish which protects the equipment from getting scratches.

In accordance with the name our equipment is designed to naturally sprout out of its surroundings and be a beautiful addition to its environment. What can you do outside of CrossFit?

If you enjoy less intense workouts but you like the exercises Crossfit offers, you can implement them at a slower pace in your own workout. You can also use NOORD’s outdoor crossfit equipment for HIIT exercises if you don’t want to do strength training.
