Parkour has become a visible and inspiring movement art, often seen on TV, the internet and in the urban environment. In this dynamic activity, participants move quickly through urban space, using benches, stairs, handrails and walls in incredibly creative and fascinating ways.
What is parkour?
Parkour is an exciting and challenging form of exercise that involves moving quickly and efficiently through an environment using jumping, climbing and acrobatic movements. It is a discipline that requires physical strength, agility and mental focus. The athletes, known as traceurs, constantly seek to improve their ability to navigate through urban environments by overcoming obstacles such as walls, railings and concrete blocks with grace and precision.

Safe parkour environment
At NOORD, we pride ourselves on our commitment to creating safe and functional training areas for parkour. We have been responsible for the installation of fall mats at several parkour facilities, improving both safety and comfort for the athletes. The mats reduce the risk of injury from falls and allow trainees to train with greater confidence. This is especially important for beginners who may be more prone to falls and injuries while learning basic techniques and movements. By providing a safe training surface, we help parkour practitioners of all levels develop their skills in a safe and supportive environment.
Mikkel Rugaard is a creative professional with a wide range of experience in design and art. His work spans multiple disciplines, including architecture, urban spaces and installations. Together with Mikkel Rugaard, we have collaborated to create safe and inspiring training areas for parkour enthusiasts. NOORD has been responsible for the installation of fall surfaces at parkour facilities in both Roskilde and Maribo, projects designed by Mikkel Rugaard. This collaboration has resulted in unique training environments that are both challenging and safe for the athletes.
